The Inland Empire's vision of a high-speed rail link to Las Vegas took a significant leap forward with the announcement of full funding for the project, spurring a celebratory gathering of regional leaders at Rancho Cucamonga's Cucamonga Station on Monday, December 11. This station is poised to become a pivotal multimodal hub, marking the Southern California terminus of the new rail line.
Assemblymember Eloise GĆ³mez Reyes emphasized the project's potential to showcase Rancho Cucamonga's allure, heralding the city as a key gateway. The project, energized by a $3 billion boost announced by President Joe Biden on December 8, aims to construct a 218-mile, all-electric high-speed rail system. Developed by Brightline West, this ambitious $12 billion endeavor will trace the 15 Freeway corridor, seamlessly linking Las Vegas with Rancho Cucamonga.
Local officials across San Bernardino County convened to applaud the infusion of funds, underscoring the project's significance in forging new connections within the Inland Empire. The enthusiasm shared at the event reflects a broader anticipation for the transformative impact the Cucamonga Station and the rail project are expected to have on regional mobility and economic vitality.
